the designer behind ByRo!Designs: It began with...who
else?? Barbie! at the age of 9 our designer started
sewing clothes for the infamous doll and by age 12
she had progressed to creating clothes for herself
and her doll! Seeing the talent of the budding seamstress
her parents bought a fabric store in San Pedro where
the family designed, developed and stocked fabric in
the store and gave their young nimble fingered lass
her own bridal corner where she started designing and
sewing dresses out of the store.
Ro continued to expand her skills and
talents by enrolling in the Fashion Design Program
at LA Trade Tech, one of the best fashion design programs
in Southern California. Here she learned the foundational
skills of design, sketching, making and sizing patterns,
marketing and merchandising. She was rewarded for her
school work with Sketch Design awards and the Silver
Thimble Award for outstanding evening wear design.
She graduated in 1990 at the top of her class with
dreams of starting her own clothing line...but before
she could accomplish that dream there was more hard
work ahead.
This talented seamstress began working
with dancewear design and manufacturing ,(this is where
she developed her love of Lycra!)which led to work
in the "industry" of television, commercials,
film and theatre designing and making costumes. (Yes!
she has worked with famous entertainers but professional
discretion keeps her from naming names!) Finally, the
ByRo! Designs line was about to be born! At a NAAFA
convention in 1989 when our designing fashionista couldn't
find a swimsuit to flatter and enhance her feminine
curves she designed her own swimsuit and a clothing
line was born.
ByRo! swimsuits have special features
for the "full figured woman designed by a full
figured woman." These design features include
power-netting, princess seams and a more shaped and
contoured fit to provide more comfort for the plus-size
body. ByRo! Swimsuits are fashion forward with a contemporary
and trendy design for the marketplace. Her fashion
line also includes swimsuit cover-ups, sarongs, active-wear,
cat-suits, sexy dresses and a new line of club-wear.
So what is in the near future for this
innovative designer?? Ro is currently working on getting
her own web-site set up. She is working exclusively
with "Big on Batik", she has on-going work
with the entertainment industry and she is working
on having a southern California showroom for her line.
Last but not least she is continually working on new
and exciting designs.
